Out of these people, 76% are suffering worsened mental health as a result. This highlights a need for the link between mental health issues and financial concerns to be discussed.<\/p>\n<h2>Rising Living Costs<\/h2>\n<p>With living costs constantly increasing at the moment, you may be finding it harder to cope. You are not alone. We are all finding it difficult at the moment, and here\u2019s why\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>The Strength of Stress<\/h2>\n<p>Stress can really impact your health, even without you necessarily realising. If you\u2019re worried about money and it\u2019s causing you a lot of stress you may experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Restlessness<\/li>\n<li>Stomach problems<\/li>\n<li>Sleep problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are all difficult to deal with, especially issues with your sleep. It really is important for us to get a good night\u2019s rest.<\/p>\n<p>As we discussed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redstareducation.co.uk\/blog\/how-mental-health-issues-can-impact-your-finances\/\">last week\u2019s blog<\/a>, mental health problems can most definitely negatively affect your finances. Worrying about your financial situation may then worsen your mental health problems, creating a downwards spiral.<\/p>\n<h2>Managing Stress<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exercise\u2026 yes, we know that this always seems to be the automatic response for dealing with mental health struggles, but it really is worth a try. It won\u2019t solve everything but it might help you work off some of the stress and worry building up in your body<\/li>\n<li>Socialise\u2026 it can be easy to cut people off when we are struggling, but this isn\u2019t the answer. Whether it\u2019s blowing off some steam with your friends or ringing a family member for half an hour, it can help take your mind off things<\/li>\n<li>Self-care\u2026 pencil in time for yourself. Do a facemask. Have a bath. Watch a film. We don\u2019t care what you do, just that you do it<\/li>\n<li>Avoid unhealthy habits\u2026 as we saw last week, money concerns can feed addiction, but it will not make you feel better in the long run<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>You can Also Save Money on Prescriptions<\/h2>\n<p>If you are on medication for your mental health (or for any other reason) and paying for it, you may not have to.<\/p>\n<p>A single prescription charge is \u00a39.35. However, you can get a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk\/help-nhs-prescription-costs\/nhs-prescription-prepayment-certificates-ppcs\">prescription prepayment certificate<\/a> (PPC) through the NHS where you can pay \u00a330.35 for 3 months, or \u00a3108.10 for 12 months.
