{"id":2095,"date":"2025-06-09T16:33:06","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T15:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.redstareducation.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2095"},"modified":"2025-06-09T16:34:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T15:34:53","slug":"the-average-childs-birthday-party-costs-524","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.redstareducation.co.uk\/blog\/the-average-childs-birthday-party-costs-524\/","title":{"rendered":"The Average Child&#8217;s Birthday Party Costs \u00a3524"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children\u2019s birthday parties don\u2019t always come cheap, but there are some ways that we can make it more affordable\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Expensive Are They?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a 2024 survey by <a href=\"https:\/\/oxygenactiveplay.co.uk\/news-and-events\/childrens-birthday-parties-more-competitive-than-ever\/\">Oxygen Activeplay<\/a>, 89% of parents polled said that hosting children\u2019s birthday parties has become extremely competitive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study found that the average child\u2019s birthday party costs \u00a3524, and that 57% of parents say their children prefer to do an activity like wall climbing, trampolining, laser quest, go karting and theme parks, rather than traditional party games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">45% of parents polled said that trying to organise a birthday party was one of the most stressful things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This study is backed up by research from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.about.sainsburys.co.uk\/news\/latest-news\/2023\/13-09-2023-parents-look-for-ways-to-save-as-average-childs-birthday-party-costs-more\">Sainsbury\u2019s Nectar Prices<\/a> in 2023, who found that the average parent was spending \u00a3278.70 when throwing a birthday party for their child, before buying any presents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sainsbury\u2019s found that 72% of parents confessed to finding planning their child\u2019s birthday party stressful. They also discovered that the biggest contributor to this stress was worrying about money, with 56% of parents finding trying to stay in budget the most stressful thing about planning a child\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Are the Costs Involved?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Costs associated with children\u2019s birthday parties include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Party food, including a birthday cake<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Decorations, such as balloons, party bags, banners, and more<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entertainment or activities \u2013 this is where the costs can really rack up, whether it\u2019s hiring a magician, renting a bouncy castle, or paying for a bunch of children to go on day out, these things can cost a lot of money<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t Let it Get Out of Hand<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although we all want our children to experience the very best, it\u2019s important not to lose sight of what\u2019s really important.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to research from <a href=\"https:\/\/press.gocompare.com\/news\/dont-forget-the-card-a-quarter-of-parents-are-paying-for-kids-birthday-parties-using-a-credit-card\">Go.Compare<\/a> in 2023, 26% of respondents said they would be paying for their child\u2019s birthday party with a credit card. This is an alarming insight into the financial strain that some parents are putting themselves in for the sake of a birthday party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should set a budget and stick to it when planning your child\u2019s party, as it\u2019s more important for them to grow up in a financially secure environment than for them to have an enormous party that gets you into money trouble.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ways of Reducing the Costs<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children can have a lot of fun without a lot of money being spent! To reduce the cost of your child\u2019s birthday party you could try:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reducing the guest list<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making some of your own decorations \u2013 this could even be a fun activity to do with your child before the party!<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be strategic \u2013 compare the costs of different entertainers, venues, decorations, and so on.
