This includes things like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Substandard work which is either poorly done, incomplete, or both<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Providing unnecessary work<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using products that don\u2019t meet the required weights and measures<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Escalating the price of work from the pre-agreed amount<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being aggressive or intimidating to the consumer, such as pressuring you into signing a contract you don\u2019t want to sign<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rogue traders can offer a whole range of legitimate services but fail to carry them out in a legitimate way. This may include work on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Driveways<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Garden maintenance<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electrics<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roofing<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial products, such as pensions or investments<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building work<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security alarms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your Right to a Cooling-off Period<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a trader comes to your house and you agree to have a service carried out by them or to buy goods worth more than \u00a342, they must give you 14 days to cancel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They should not start work without your permission within these 14 days. If you do cancel in this time, you may still have to pay for any work that has already been done and any materials that have already been supplied.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding a Good Tradesperson<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the best ways to find a good tradesperson is through word of mouth, by going off the personal recommendation of someone you know and trust.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before using a tradesperson\u2019s services, you should ensure they have relevant qualifications and accreditations for the work required.
